Samcrooks, I am not saying that the existence of this switch is unconfirmed, or covered by NDA. What I am saying is that anything that I would write about on that subject right now (if you notice I tend to go pretty deep into architectures and features) is likely to be covered by NDA.

I am lucky enough to get great access to upcoming Cisco technology through my work (the same company as Scott Lowe by the way). We are high enough in the partner food chain that we generally get early access to new products, as well as opportunities to feed back features we think would be helpful to the business units. The last thing I want to do is violate that trust.

One thing I am extremely careful of is discussing any information that could be covered under NDA, or that may have come out in conversation with any internal Cisco employees. My general policy is not to discuss anything that I know until I can find public documentation or releases relating to what I am writing about.

Since there is pretty much nothing of substance released on the VMware soft switch, that means I cannot write anything of substance about it. When the product is released, and available to the general public, then expect a detailed review discussing all the juicy little bells and whistles.

That is absolutely true, though there really hasn't been much publicly released on it besides that it will be Cisco branded.

When there is public release of the features it will a good time to talk about it, but until that it is either conjecture or a NDA violation. Both of which I would like to avoid :).
